What is Laparoscopic Surgery?
Laparoscopy enables the surgeon to reach the inside of the abdomen without the need to make a big cut.
A laparoscope is a slender tube fitted with a light and camera. It captures images in real-time and displays them to an external monitor.
The surgeon creates a small incision on the abdomen and inserts the laparoscope through it.
Laparoscopic surgeries are considered safer than traditional open surgeries. It reduces hospital stay due to its minimally invasive approach.
It gives better surgical outcomes based on the benefits it grants. Many hospitals favour it as compared to its traditional counterpart.
However, not all surgeries are suitable for a laparoscopic approach. Speak with your doctor and see if laparoscopic surgery is a viable option for you.
